Mini Update October 29, 2019

November 1, 2019

For this and further mini updates we will put at the beginning, any key points that need some action on the part of the members. More general info will be included after that as time and space permits.

ACTION ITEMS

Canadian Cross Country Championships, Abbotsford, Nov 30, 2019

All members who plan to compete in this meet should let Phil know ASAP through email by Nov 6th at the latest. This will enable us to use casino funds for entries – any out of province expenditures from casino funds must be approved in advance. So far Liam, Chloe, Seb, Evan, Emily D, Katie F, Maddie, Samara, Leif, Jason and Sadie have let me know they want to compete. If there are any others or if the list above is, incorrect please let Phil know.

Provincial Cross Country Championships, Wetaskiwin, Nov 2, 2019

If you have entered please check the confirmed entries list at Trackie.Reg to make sure you are entered and are in the correct age group.

Last Chance Meet, Nov 16, 2019 at the University Pavilion (Butterdome)

Tech package for this meet is posted on the Trackie.Reg page.

Athletes should enter themselves for this meet. Make a note of the entry deadline – Nov 9, 2019 at 11.59 pm. Please note there is no refund if you scratch (i.e. withdraw from the meet). Younger athletes (U 12 and U14) will do multiple events i.e. three different events. Even if you feel that you already know which event(s) you want to concentrate on you are strongly encouraged to do all 3 – it is fun and contributes to your all-round development. Please note that a provisional schedule is posted in the tech package. For a more precise schedule check Trackie.Reg in the days immediately before the meet. This also applies to making sure you are entered in the correct events. Most people get more emails than they like these days so you will not be getting reminders to check the schedule or make sure you are in the correct events. This will apply to all indoor meets this season.

Training

Training as normal this week except no training on Saturday as it is Provincial Championships. There will be training Oct, 31st though it might be a short session as Phil needs to get home to go trick or treating. We will move indoors beginning Monday, Nov. 4th. Phil’s group will still train outdoors most days so come prepared for the weather. Also, wear something light colored and/or reflective as motorists have trouble seeing you when you are dressed in dark clothes. For George’s group coaches will not be available Monday, Nov 4th or Wed. Nov 6th but his senior athletes know what the workouts are. There will be coaches there Tuesday, Nov. 5th and Thursday, Nov. 7th.

Catch up on recent results and reviews of the 35th Anniversary Celebration will be included in the next edition of the mini update. IF you have anything to contribute send it to Phil. Attached is a document, “What to expect at a first meet” which will hopefully answer some of the questions our new members may have.
